Paying attention to the original building
Arches, roof forms, window proportions and crafted details can make a home recognisable. Their relationship to a new space deserves as much attention as the new work itself. A renovation might continue an established material language or introduce a clearly contemporary addition, depending on the architectural intent.
ISK’s role is in delivering the construction with care. Our hands-on approach keeps Ronny close to the decisions being made on site and supports direct communication with the client, architect and consultants.
Character takes more than one form
Mission House celebrates the original Spanish Mission home through a considered renovation and extension. Its arches and established character provide a distinct starting point for the new work.
Post House begins with a former Post building and reinterprets it as a family residence. Grace, currently in construction, explores the connection between a heritage residence and a contemporary addition. These are different design responses, rather than a single style repeated across every building.
Information for an informed first discussion
Share the existing drawings, photographs and proposed alterations, along with any site-specific heritage or planning information already provided by your design team. This helps frame the discussion around your building rather than assumptions about its age or appearance.
- Original features you want to preserve or bring into focus.
- The proposed relationship between old and new rooms.
- Your architect’s concept or developed drawings.
- Known site constraints and relevant information already gathered.
